Djockovic v Wawrenka semi finals Australian Open 30-1-14

MENS TENNIS SEMI FINALS

NOVAC DJOCKOVIC V STAN WAWRINKA

The first set went to a tie break and Wawrinka showed that he is not going away. Djockovic the broke in the first point of the tie break at the early stages lead by 5 points to 0.  Djokovic won the tie break by 7 points to 1. You just wonder where Wawrinka was in the tie break because he wasn't here.

Wawrinka broke in the 6th game to 30 and at this stage of the match looked very strong. He held the next game winning 3 in a row to give him a strong advantage in this the second set. Wawrenka held to love to win the second set and it was Djokovics first set dropped in the competition. Wavwenka looked ready at this point.

Djokovic broke in the second game of the third set but he was running about everywhere and anywhere by Wawrenka in this game and you did not see it coming.   Wavwenka broke back in the fifth but was given a lifeline in the game previous. Djokovic then broke in the 10th game of the set to win it by 6 games to 4.

Djokovic broke in the second game of the fourth set. Wavwenka broke straight back with a quality game. Stan Wawrenka came back from 40 love to score 5 points in a row to save serve. Wavwenka then broke in the 7th game to love. I felt if he had lost this it could be game over. Wavwenka then held the next problem and seemed to be in control. Wavwenka went on to win the set with a quality shot at the end to win 6-4.

There seemed to be a new Djokovic in the final set as he took complete control to win it by 6 games to 0. But there did seem to be something slightly wrong as he did not seem as reactive to big points as he had been during the tournament maybe this is something he is learning.

29-1-14 AUSTRALIAN OPEN

MENS

TOMAS BERDYCH V ANDY MURRAY

MAGNIFICENT MURRY

The first set of this Australian open semi-final could have been won by either player Berdych had more breaks but Murray had more break points but no player took a break point of the other one.  The set went into the tie break and Berdych won it in the end with a quality shot to win the tie break 8-6
Andy Murray then came straight back with a 6-0 set and there did seem to be problems with Berdychs game like simple mistakes going wrong. It seemed like Murray was beginning to show what it was that he could do.
Berdych did show that he was back in it as there was not a break in serve until Murray broke in the 6th game as he came back from 40 love to win this game brilliant. Murray wins the 3rd set by 6 games to 3 and is beginning to look good to win the match as he is changing what shots he is making whenever he can.
Murray broke in the 12th game and won the match but did look the better player in the 4th set also as you could see. Murray pushed Berdych to further behind the baseline.
Murray seemed to be able to change the way in the second set on a regular basis and looked like the better player and reached the final because of this
WOMEN'S

MARIA SHARAPOVA V EKATERINA MAKAROVA

MAGIC MARIA

Sharapova broke in the second game to take control of the match.  It took Makarova until the 4th game to get a game. Makarova broke back in the 7th game. Sharapova broke straight back. Sharapova held to love to win by 6 games to 3
Sharapova broke in the first game of the second set Sharapova then broke in the third game and it looked over. It took Makarova until the fifth game to win a game in the second set. Makarova had 2 chances to break back but too neither and Sharapova showed her class to lead 5-1. The next 2 games went on serve so Sharapova won 6-2 and looks good at this stage

SERENA WILLIAMS V MADISON KEYS

SUPERB SERENA

Keys broke in the first game of the match to take a surprise lead in this All American match. But Serena broke back in the sixth but Madison Keys did seem to have an injury. The set went to a tie break. Williams broke in the third point of the match this was enough to win the set by 7 points to 5. Keys looked good at this stage.
Williams broke in the first game of the second set Williams won the second game but Keys had a chance to break. Williams then broke again in the fifth. Madison Keys saved 7 match points to win an 11 minute game that could only be described as incredible. Serena won the match on match point 9 with ace number 13

In the first set Djockovic found it tricky to get rid of Ranos as the set was won 7-6 but Ranos never lost a 2 game lead Djokovic broke early in the second set winning on Ranocis serve.  Ranoic played a poor final game of the set as Djokovic won 6-4. Djokovic broke in the third game of the third set and looked on for a semi-final. Djokovic then broke in the fifth and seemed to be cruising. Djokovic won the third set 6-2 and looked very good

Djokovic looks like the favourite. Murray might be the one who looks the weakest but it is anybody’s game
