17-11-16 tennis atp

In the ATP World tour Finals I will take a look at the groups as they go into the more interesting part of the competition.

First I will look at group A

Brit Andy Murray started his Campaign with defeat in the first set on a tie break to Japanese player Kei Nishikori after that he showed what he could do by second and third quite easily by 6 games to 4. Andy looked ready for the competition at this stage

Maron Cilic defeated Swiss player Stan Wavwinka 7-6 in both sets this left things very interesting at this stage as the games lost could harm him moving forward

Andy Murray sealed at least a spot in the semi-final with a 2 sets to 0 win over Marian Cilic this says that Murray is ready for anything and will be a force in the semi or final and backs up his number 1 seeding

Kei Nishikori beat Stan Wavwenka by 2 sets to 0 and sets up a play off tie with Cilic on Friday that will be a very interesting match that I think will be a good watch

Novac Djockovic from Serbia beat Milos Ranoic from Canada7-6, 7-6 and this says to me more the fact that Ranoic might be able to get to the knockout stage of the competition as he took Djockovic to 2 final matches in the set

Gail Monfils from France took a set of Dominic Thiem from Austria this is a good result for the Austrian as it keeps him in contention for a place in the knockout stage

Thiem won a thriller of a first set before gwetting crushed by Djockovic in the next 2 sets so that Djockovic would seal a spot in the last 4

Milos Ranoic secured a playoff match with Dominic them after beating Gael Monfils 2-0 in sets neither set was that close so Ranoic did not have that much to worry about

Stan Wavwenka wins Mens US Open 11-9-16

WAVENKA SHOWS HE CAN COME BACK FOR VICTORY

No 3 seed San Wavwinka showed why he is the best player in the world by being able to outclass Serb and number 1 seed Novac Djockovic when he needed to when he needed to in the US Open final yesterday after losing the first set on a tie break Wavvewnka came back to win the second 6-4 and the third 7-5 but it was how he was able to take control of the fourth that shows that the Swiss player has the potential to be a great champion.

KERBER SHOWS EXPERIENCE CAN WIN

German Angelique Kerber won the first set of this US open tie quite easily 6-3 before getting a tight loss to number 10 seed Piskova 6-4 and the match was all on the line when Kerber knew how to hold her nerve and become no 1 seed ahead of the legend that is Serena after winning the third set 6-4 and she now has 3 of the 4 majors

18-7-16 GREAT BRITAIN V SERBIA DAVIS CUP

DAVIS CUP QUARTER FINALS

GREAT BRITAIN3-2 SERBIA

BRITAIN MIGHT HAVE ANOTHER GEM ON THEIR HANDS

World No. 2 Andy Murray, who pulled out of the tie after winning his second Wimbledon title, could afford to watch from the side-lines and cheer on his teammates as Edmund showed maturity beyond his age at Tasmajdan stadium’s outdoor red clay

With adverse weather conditions making the surface slow and heavy, Edmund won both his singles rubbers in straight sets, blowing away Janko Tipsarevic on Friday before he also brushed aside Dusan Lajovic on Sunday to give Great Britain a 3-1 lead and seal their semi-final berth.

As expected, Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot won Saturday’s doubles against Nenad Zimonjic and Filip Krajinovic, cancelling out Lajovic’s wins over James Ward which had levelled the tie at 1-1.

The British now face a home tie against Argentina in September, who produced a rock-solid performance in a 3-1 away defeat of Italy after Federico Delbonis beat Andreas Seppi and Fabio Fognini to emulate Edmund’s accomplishments in Belgrade.

Great Britain have shown in this that there is no one that they cannot compete against in this tournament and if Andy does come back after the US Open they could win the Davis cup again but without Andy I still think that there is a small chance but Kyle Edmond is definitely one to watch out for.

CHAMPIONS OF WIMBLENDON 2016

SERENA MOVES FROM LEGEND TO ICON

World number one Serena Williams beat German fourth seed Angelique Kerber to win a seventh Wimbledon and 22nd Grand Slam title.
The American, 34, coped with a gusty wind on Centre Court to win 7-5 6-3 and equal Steffi Graf's Open era record of major titles.
Later on Centre Court, Serena and sister Venus claimed their sixth Wimbledon women's doubles title - and 14th Grand Slam trophy - with a 6-3 6-4 win over Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova.
Serena is becoming more and more of an Icon as time goes on as she picks up more titles but if certain older females had to would that record be bigger I don’t know all I do know is that the Williams sisters will now go down in history as one of the best family of sports people ever

ANDY WINS SECOND WIMBLEDON

Britain's Andy Murray became Wimbledon champion for the second time with a superb performance against Canadian sixth seed Milos Raonic in the final.
The Scot, 29, dismantled the Raonic serve in a 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-2) victory to repeat his triumph of 2013 and claim a third Grand Slam title.
Murray is the first British man to win multiple Wimbledon singles titles since Fred Perry in 1935.
I find it difficult to judge |Murray as he has not won all 4 majors yet but he has won Wimbledon more than once which is a strength for him. Time is still on his side but not for long.

8-7-16 WIMBLEDON WOMEN'S SEMIS

WOMENS SEMIS

SERENA ABLE TO CONTROL MATCH

American Serena Williams looks set to equal  German Steffi Grafs record of 22 grand slam wins after beating German unseeded Vesina 6-2, 6-0 will Serena become an Icon and get it I think she is ready now.  I do not see her in this type of form in her last couple of tournaments. Serena is the greatest woman tennis player that I have seen and I think she should stand as a legend whether she gets the record or not.
KERBER WINS 2 CLOSE SETS

Serena’s sister Venus Williams also from America lost to Angelique Kerber from Germany 6-4, 6-4 and she is showing that in this game youth is normally better than experience.

MENS SEMI FINAL DRAW
PLAYED TOMORROW

Roger Federrer Switzerland 3 v Marion Ranoc Canada 6

Tomas Berdych Czech Republic 10 v Andy Murray Great Britain 2

My champion is hard to predict between Federer and Murray but I think that Murray has got that stamina more so to win than Federrer but Federrer does like the grass and if he can win a grand slam I think it will be here.

06-67-16 mens tennis quarters

MENS

The legend that is Swiss player Roger Federrer beat Crotian Marion Cilic 6-7, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 , 6-3 and if anyone knows howw to take a victory from nothintg it is Roger Federrer as he has done it on so man ocasasions. Maybe here he can win a major and be one of the oldest men to do so.

Brit Andy Murray won in 5 sets against Jo Wilfred Tsonjga from France. 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 4-6, 6-2 and looks to have that bite to win a seccond Wimblendon. To me though Andy needs to improve a bit to become the legend we know that he dcan be.

Milos Ranoic from Canada won and the man who bewat Novac Djockovic Sam Querry from the USA 6-4, 7-57-5, 6-4 Querry should be abler to show that he is ready for anyone but this was a huge disapointment for him. Maybe he ran out of energy

Tomas Berdych from the Czech Republic beat Poulle from France 7-6, 6-3, 6-2 bout Poulle is definitely a player to watch out for in the near future
