mens austrilian open 17-1-16 round 1

Spaniard and no 9 seed  Rafa Nadal won in straight sets against German Mayer 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 he is always a player to watch out for in a competition like this and I don’t see this changing but I do think his game is more suited to the french open

Canadian Milos Ranoic beat German Brown 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 but I am surprised that he is the best behind Djockovic and Murray as I could think of players much better suited

German number 24  Zvrev an unknown player beat Hasse from the Netherlands 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 a match like this can only help him going forward and against the bigger4 players we know that he can compete at least

Spaniard David Ferrer no 21 seed cruised into the second round with a 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 win over Australian Jasika he was never in the match at any given point

Belgium David Goffin needed 5 sets to beat Opelka from the USA it was a really balanced match as he won the first lost the second won the third lost the fourth and won the fifth set and going forward there is a lot he has to look at

Austrian David Thiem needed four sets to beat Struff as he did not get off to the best start losing the first 6-4 but then won the next 3 6-4,6-4,6-3

Frenchman Gail Monfils showed what he could do in destroying Vesely of the Czech Republic 6-3,6-2,6-3 he is definite4ly a potential champion

Brit Kyle Edmond kept the pressure off Murray at least for now with a straight sets win over Giraldo winning 6-2, 7-5, 6-3 has he the potential to go deep in this competition I don’t know

Bautista Agut from Spain showed that he had the class with a 6-3, 6-1, 6-1 win over Pella from Argentina I don’t know if he can go far in the competition but he has potential

Richard Gasguet from France beat Mott from New Zealand in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 and has the potential to be champion for sure but I don’t think that he has it mentally yet

No 25 seed Symons from France won in straight sets against Mmoh from the USA

Cypriot Marcus Bagdaties a man with a history in tennis also made his way through

German number 32 seed Kohlschreiber beat Georgian Basilashvili in 4 sets

Spanish no 30 seed Carreno-Busta needed all 5 sets before Polansky retired with a serious injury which made things difficult for him to play on

Spaniard number 28 seed Lopez beat Fogini from Italy 7-5, 6-3, 7-5

Novac Djockovic from Serbia no 2 in the world beat Verdasco 6-2, 7-6, 6-2 and we know why he is the best player in the world at times but he should at least reach the quarter final

Karlovic won an epic match against Argentine Zeballos he the game was poyesed at 2 sets a piece but that match just went on and on and Karlovic won the final set by 22 games to 20  you must think that there must be a rule introduced here after a time as these matches can go on for ever
