Pisklova the number 5 seed from the Czech Republic beat Sorribes Tormo in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 and showed that she has the potential to beat anyone

Serena Williams from the USA beat Benic from Switzerland 6-4, 6-3 and she is always a player to watch out for but age might catch up with her soon

Joanna Konta needs a run in this competition to be noticed but she has started well with a 7-5, 6-2 I hope that she is able to get a major before she retires

Sam Stoser needed 3 sets to beat Heather Watson but she cruised to the third set and made some of us ask where exactly Watson was in the third as if she was able to keep it close she could have won the match

Number 6 seed Cibulkova from Slovakia beat Allertova in straight sets

Caroline Woznaicki has come back from her accidental suspension to show she is back on form with a Rodionova from New Zealand

Garcia from France number 21 seed had a straight sets win over Bondarenko from the Ukraine

Number 16 seed Strycova won in straight sets over Kulichkova

Vesnina from Russia number 14 seed beat Bogdan from Belgium in straight sets

In this all Russian tie Makarova number 30 seed has shown why she is that with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 wins over Alexandrova

Bacsinszky from Switzerland number 12 seed beat Giorgi 6-3, 6-6, 7-5 and showed why she was deserving of the seeding

Cornet number 28 from France beat fellow French woman Gorges 2-1 in sets

Babos from Hungary beat Gibbs from the USA 7-5 6-4 but no one would be expecting he to put up a challenge but the last 32 should make her happy
