14-9-15 us open mens final

DJOCKOVIC WON IN 4 SETS

Serb Novac Djockovic beat Swiss player and tennis legend Roger Federrer by 3 sets to 1 all 4 sets were close but the three that Djockovic did win were won by 6 games to 4 Djockovic could never get that second break. But the second  won by federrer took Roger a lot longer to break in as he won by 7 games to 5

In a raucous night session on Arthur Ashe Stadium, after the start of play was delayed by more than three hours because of rain, Federer looked to have a real chance in the third set.

However Djokovic broke the Federer serve six times and saved 19 of 23 break points as he battled his way to a 27th win in 28 Grand Slam matches this year.

Djockovic tis now joint 5th on the list of most grand slams ever

Penetta broke in the 7th game of the 1st se but Vinci broke back later in the set to take it to a tie break. Penetta won it by 7 points to 4 with an hour played Penetta was a set up.

Penetta then broke in the second game of the the second set and then broke again and looked like she was cruising. Vinci then broke back to make it 4-3 but you thought that Vinci would get on a roll but it did not work out like that she Panetta won the next 2 games to win the match as Panetta was able to play the final 2 games like there was no pressure on her

The second set was also won by just one break as Azerenka won by 6 games to 4. The third was won by 6 games to 6 games to 2 by Halep which meant that 2 breaks were needed to win the set and match

PANETTA DREAMING OF FIRST BIG DAY

Pennetta from Italy beat Czech Petra Kvitova in 3 sets and this was a major surprise in the world of tennis as Penetta.  Kvirova won the first set by 6 games to 4 which made me think that she would get control of the match but it was Penetta who won the next 2 sets by 6 games to 4.

MENS SINGLES

DJOCKOVIC PROVES TOP CLASS

Serb Novac Djokovic beat Spaniard Fernando Lopez in 4 sets. The first set was a breeze for Djockovic breaking twice winning 6-1   It looked like it took time for Lopez to wake up but when he did he got right into a rhythm to win the second set with a break to win 6-3 but \Lopez looked good at this stage. That was before Djockovic broke in the third to win it by 6 games to 3 and the final Djockovic set went to a tie break but a tie |break he was able to control to win it comfortably.

TSONGA WINS EPIC

Frenchman Jo Wilfred Tsonga beat Marian Cilic in an epic 5 set match the first 2 sets were won by 6 games to 4 both won by Cilic. The third set was then won by Tsonga by a break and the fourth was won in a tie break that Tsonga always had control of. The final set was won by  Cilic on a break of serve this looked like a great match to watch so watch the replay

WOMENS SINGLES

SERENA BEATS SISTER

The battle of the American Williams Sisters a match that we had not seen in a while Serena won the first set with a double break to win the first set. Venus then came back to win the second set with a double break. The third set was where the real match began and ended as Serena took it with a break to show why she is still the best tennis player in the world.

VINCI WINS THRILLER

In the battle of the unseeded players Italian Roberta Vinci won in 3 sets over French woman Mladenovic in 3 sets each set was close but winning the first and third set by 6 games to 3 was enough to reach the semis. In the second Mladenovic won the set in another close one by 7 games to 5 this match could have went either way.

WOMENS SINGLES

Czech player Petra Kvitova won 2 hard sets against British Player Joanna Konte but this is probably the furthest a British player has went in a long time. It took a long time for Kvitova to break in the first set but when she did it won her the set. In the second Kvitova had more control as she was able to break a lot earlier.

Italian tennis player Pennetta beat Sam Stoser in 2 very hard sets and this is a win that is definitely going to help her world rankings going forward.

Bulgarian Victotria Azerenka beat unseeded Lepchenko from the US the first set looked a lot easier for her than the second and she looks ready for anybody at this stage. There is sometimes little that can be learned against an unseeded opponent

Romanian Samona Halep beat German  Savine Lisicki in 3 sets the first set was an absolute epic where  Laisicki won an epic tie break by 8 points to 6. The second was won by Halep but it was also very close. In the third Halep took control to win the third with 2 breaks of serve. With a match like this under her belt she does look like a potential champion.

Quarter-final

1 S Williams (US) v  V Williams (US) 23

 Mladenovic (Fra) v  Vinci (Ita)

5 Kvitova (Cze) v  Pennetta (Ita) 26

20 Azarenka (Blr) v  Halep (Rom) 2

MENS SINGLES

Swiss tennis player Stan Wawrinka won in 4 sets over American Young winning 3 close sets will help him going forward but the one set that he lost was a terrible one to loose and might have to look at this as a champion to lose a set like this is definitely not a good thing.

Brit Andy Murray is the first big seed of the US Open to go out as he lost in 4 sets to South African Kevin Anderson. The first set was won on a tie break followed by a hard second set. In the third Murray won on a tie break but the fourth was lost by Murray from the tie break from hell as he could not gain a point which put Kevin Anderson through to the next round and he might be one to watch out for going forward.

Frenchman Richard Gasquet brat Czech Tomas Berdych in 4 sets. Berdych won the first set quite comfortably and this seemed to waken Gasquet up. The second and third sets were quite close but the fourth was a breese For Gasquet as he seemed to get better and better throughout the match.  Gasquet will definitely be a tricky opponent going forward

Roger Federrer showed his experience to win in 3 close against John Isner from the USA. The first set was won in a tie break where Federrer showed his class winning 7-0 the second set tie break was much closer but in the third Federrer was able to break away and win by 7 games to 5. The match will help federreer as well as the result going forward.

Quarter-final

1 Djokovic (Ser) v  Lopez (Spa) 18

19 Tsonga (Fra) v  Cilic (Cro) 9

5 Wawrinka (Swi) v  Anderson (SA) 15

MENS SINGLES

Serbian Novac Djockovic won his last 32 match in 4 sets against R Bautista-Agut from Spain this was a particularly close match where Djockovic was not allowed to take control of the match as each set was close

Lopez from Spain found it easy against Fognini the toughest set in this match he did have a tie break which will help him massively in going forward as now he is likely to play a seed

Jo Wilfred Tsonga found it easy in this all French match against Paire there was not a time in this match that you would say he would lose it. Paire

Marian Cilic won in 4 sets one of which was won on a tie break against Jeremy Chardy from France. This is definitely a good match for him going forward and I think that Cilic could be one to watch out for in the tournament

WOMENS SINGLES

Serena Williams Cruised through against fellow American Madison Keys you never thought that Willims had lost control of this match as she broke in each set

Her sister Venus also got through to the next round as she looked back to her brilliant best only loosing 3  games in her last 32 match

Unseeded French woman Mladenovic won in 3 difficult sets against Makarova from Russia  but this was definitely a win hard fought first set  and after losing the second the third was in Cruise control

04-09-15 day 4 womens singles

WOMENS SINGLES

Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic beat Gibbs from the Us in 2 sets and looks like one to watch out for in the US open but there is little that can be said at this stage about form.

Sara Errani needed 3 sets and a set to wake up as in the first set it seemed like she was completely asleep. In the second she took control and won it by 6 games to 4 and the third 6-3 but Errani has definitely got a lot to worry about.

Sam Stoser Cruised through to the third round against Russian Rodina as she only conceded 2 games and looks to be ready for anybody going forward.

Dain Caroline Wozniacki beat Czech  Cetkovska in 3 sets and the final set went all the way until the final ball was hit and Wo9n the tie break to win the third set and book a spot in the third

Bulgerian Victoria Azarenka had 2 hard sets against Wickmayer from Belgiyum she does look like a potential champion at this stage but I have seen playerws like her go to a point but could not go any further.

German Savine Lisicki had a hard first set against Giorgi from Italy but it did seem like in the second set Lisicki was able to just pull away

Romanian Salena Halep beat K Bondarenko in 2 tough sets to secure a spot in the second round you cannot be sure what a result like this means in context but as she is such a high seed you would be disappointed if she did not reach the quarters

German Angelique Kerber had both a hard and an easy set against Italian Knapp the first set nearly went to a tie break but the second was over quite quick as a double break won the match.

mens singles day 404-09-15

MENS SINGLES

Swiss player Stan Wawrinka won 3 epic sets each one won on a tie break against Chung from Korea. Chung is definitely one to watch out for and was very unlucky not to win a set but a win like this you are not sure whether was good or bad for Wavwenka.

Andy Murray came from 2 sets down to win the last 3 sets quite comfortably to win this matcfh against Mannarino from France this was definitely a scare for Murray and it is so9mething that he has to look at going forward

Latyh Hewitt beat Bernard Tomic in an epic 5 set match won by 7 games to 5 in the final set. Tomic took the first 2 sets before losing the second 2 sets and you thought that momentum would win it for Hewitt but it did not go that way at all as Tomic won the fifth by 7 games to 5.

American John Isner found it quite simple against   Youzhny as he won is 3 straight sets to go through to the third round.

Roger Federrer was in dreamland against Darcis from Belgium only loosing 4 games and having a double break in each set he seems to be ready for the big challenges as the  fewer games he plays the better as he is ageing

Frenchman Richard Gasguet won in 4 sets as he defeated Haase from Belgium after losing the first set Gasguet won the second in a tight battle before a tie bresak and another hard set. Matches like this will be very good for Gasguet going forward

Kevin Anderson from South Africa cruised through to the third round after beating Krajicek he had a tough second set but showed who he was in the final set after taking control to win it 6-2

Tomas Berdych found it tricky at the start of the match against Melzer from Austria hew showed his class in the second after the first set went to a tie break.

WONENS SINGLES

Serena Williams found it tricky against Dutch opponent Bertens in the first set it looked like Williams was not completely there as she was off balance but found a way to win the set. In the second she took more control

Madison Keys Cruised through to the third round against Smitkova from the Czech Republic you always would ask the question of whether a result like this can help or harm someone so young and inexperienced a big events

Venus Williams from the USA won in 3 sets against Falconi but showed her age in this match as a younger Venus would not have dropped the second set. Sometimes champions stay too long in a sport maybe it is her time.

Canidan Eugenie Bouchard won in 3 sets against  Hercog from Slovackia in 3 sets with the second going into a tie break and the third only being won by 3 games maybe there is not the hope that there is this year that there has been years before

Anna Radwanska won in 2 very easy sets against Linette from Poland she knows that she is knowing that she is being looked at and and she is looking good in this tournament

Elana Makarova from Russia beat Davis from the US in a quite comfortable performance so much so that you cannot be sure whether she has learned whst she needs to know to go further in the competition.

MENS SINGLES

Serb Novac Djockovic found it easy passing his second round against Haider-Maurer from Austria he did get better and better as the match went on but does show here that he has the form to win on this match.

Canadian Milos Ranoc won in 4 sets against Spaniard Fernando Verdasco this match was a good match in these early rounds of the match and Verdasco is definitely not an opponent that you would think would want to mess with

Spaniard Fernando Lopez won an epic 5 set match against M Fish from the USA this was a match that you could not be certain would be won by either in the end until the end of the match when Loopez took control

Rafa Nadal showed his class in winning 3 very difficult sets against S Schwartzman from Argentina this was the right type of fight for Nadal and it also helped him that he got out early.

Frenchman Jo Wilfred Tsonga showed that he could be a contender with an easy second round win over Granollers from Spain. This quickness of this match can only help Tsonga going forward

Crotian Marion Cilic defeated Donskoy from Croatia winning by 3 sets to 0 the only match that was in any way tight was the third which makes me think he has over the line anxiety over getting over the winning post.

Goffin from Belgium won a 5 set match to make his way into the third round nobody took control of the match until the 4th set where Goffin seemed to just find another level

David Ferrer from Spain my underdog won 3 epic sets to go through to the third round of the US open against Krajinovic from Serbia after each set he needed 7 games to win
