US OPEN mens singles results 1-9-15

The US open started yesterday and here are a few players that I am interested in I wonder how far they will go in the competition

MEN'S FIRST ROUND

(8) Rafael Nadal (Spa) beat Borna Coric (Cro) 6-3 6-2 4-6 6-4

Rafa Nadal showed that he was cool under pressure in his first round tie against Croatian Coric as he lost his lost his third set he found a way back into the match winning the fourth by 6 games to 4

(7) David Ferrer (Spa) beat Radu Albot (Mol) 4-6 7-5 6-1 6-0

Ferrer appeared to get better and better as the match went on in this match as he had a bit of a fight in the first set but then found it quite easy to win a performance like this can only help him in the second round.

(1)    Novak Djokovic (Ser) beat Joao Souza (Bra) 6-1 6-1 6-1

Novac Djockovic was in cruise control in his first round tie winning each set by 6 games to 1 and looks like the best player in the world at this currant time

(9) Marin Cilic (Cro) beat Guido Pella (Arg) 6-3 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-3)

Cilic had a bit of a battle in his first round tie and a match like this can only help him as he goes further in the tournament with 2 tie breaks won he is getting in some match practice early which is a very good thing

(27) Jeremy Chardy (Fra) beat Ryan Shane (USA) 6-2 6-1 6-7 (6-8) 6-2

Chardy showed that he had class to lose the third set in a tie breaker and then take complete control of the fourth. In the early stage of the match it seemed like there could only be one winner but Shane did come back in the third and this might have been a mental hurdle for Chardy to beat but he managed to take control and win.

 (26) Tommy Robredo (Spa) beat Michael Berrer (Ger) 6-2 6-2 6-4

Robledo showed that he will do very well in this tournament with a comfortable win in the first round finding it tricky in the final set will not help him in any way but the ease that he won the first 2 say that there is potential there

 (10) Milos Raonic (Can) beat Tim Smyczek (USA) 6-4 7-6 (10-8) 6-1

Milos ranoc seemed to find it difficult in the early stages of the match but when he won the tie break Smyczek seemed to just give up and we started to think that it was not his day and so did he as in the third Smyczek was just not there

 (19) Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (Fra) beat Jarkko Nieminen (Fin) 6-3 6-1 6-1

Tsonga is always a tennis player to watch out for in the draw and you could see improvement in his game in this tie. Tsonga showed why he is a force to be recond with even with his low seeding as there did not seem to be anyone else there.

 (14) David Goffin (Bel) beat Simone Bolelli (Ita) 6-4 6-1 6-2

David Goffin showed with a cruise control performance why he is seeded no 14 in the draw as there did not seem to be a match here and an early competitive set seemed to be the only thing that could help Goffin in the later rounds

(17) Grigor Dimitrov (Bul) beat Matthew Ebden (Aus) 6-4 6-2 6-4

Dimitrov seemed to get the best of both worlds in the fact that each set was competitive but he won the match by 3 sets to 0 and I am sure that Ebden is disappointed that he did not get a set.
